Gerardo is a PhD Candidate at The University of Queensland. His research seeks to build an understanding of the social transformations experienced by rural societies in the context of mining development in the Peruvian Andes, using a gender-sensitive approach. The research will follow the strategies deployed by twelve families over the past twelve years in the vicinity of La Granja copper project, in Cajamarca, northern Peru.
Gerardo holds a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from the Catholic University of Peru (PUCP), a Master of Science in Development Studies by the University of Bath and a Master of Arts in Geography by the University of Oklahoma. He is a lecturer in the Diploma of Extractive Industries program at the PUCP and Director of Societas Social Analysis Consultants.
