Funding was received to undertake comparative fieldwork in northern Alberta to learn from the innovative methods being adopted in Canada to address the cumulative impacts of the Oil Sands industry. The research was also showcased at the IAIA Special Topic meeting on Cumulative Effects in Calgary, Canada, 6?9 November, 2008. The purpose was to expand our understanding and knowledge of approaches for assessing and managing cumulative impacts.
