Theme: Cumulative Impacts

The ‘Developing Good Practice in Managing Cumulative Impacts’ project sought to enhance the capacity of the Australian coal mining industry and other stakeholders to address cumulative impacts.

The main research output of the project was a ‘Good Practice Guide on Cumulative Impacts for the Australian Coal Mining Industry’. The guide focused on the opportunities and challenges to proactively identify and respond to cumulative impacts. The guide provided practical approaches, methods and case studies to improve the assessment, management, monitoring and reporting of cumulative impacts and to enhance coordination and collaboration amongst stakeholders.

The guide was launched by the Hon Stirling Hinchliffe the then Queensland Minister for Infrastructure and Planning. More than 1000 copies of the guide were distributed and >2500 individual downloads. The research has since been adapted into a 3-day professional development training course for professionals in the resources sector.
