Análisis del Desarrollo Minero en Baja California Sur: Proyecto Minero Los Cardones

CSRM was commissioned by the International Community Foundation (ICF) to assess the possible socio-economic impacts that may occur if three open pit metallic mining projects were operating in the state of Baja California Sur (BCS), Mexico. BCS does not have a metallic mining industry and these proposed projects could set a precedent for the state to become a mining region, with a large percentage of concessions already given by the federal government. Two separate reports have been produced in Spanish. The shorter study focuses solely on the possible impacts the proposed Los Cardones mine might have in BCS, it includes an English Executive Summary: http://www.icfdn.org/reports/csrm/csrm.php (Spanish report) http://www.icfdn.org/reports/csrm/006_executivesummary.php (English executive summary) The full report covers the potential impacts all three proposed mines might have in BCS: http://www.defiendelasierra.org/descargas/Desarrollo_Minero_en_BCS_Reporte_FINAL.pdf (Spanish report)
